Here is a complete checklist for your hospital bag. This list includes a few things you definitely don't want to forget for the big day. In general, twins are known to come early! Having your hospital bag ready for the third trimester is no luxury!
- Your birth plan and all documents to be completed for the hospital and/or insurance.
- Health insurance and hospital card
- A large capacity bag
- A double nursing pillow (even if you don't breastfeed, very practical for giving bottles to both babies!)
- A nursing scarf (in case you have to nurse in the NICU...sometimes there is a lack of privacy).
- Nipple cream
- Postpartum sanitary napkins
- 2 pairs of warm stockings, and if you have a c-section support stockings are a must.
- Non-slip slippers
- 2-3 non-wired nursing bras (don't buy them too early) and nursing pads (whether you plan to breastfeed or not, you will appreciate the support and absorption).
- Postpartum panties (your little belly will need support)
- Nursing nightwear (if you plan to breastfeed them). And yes, it is possible to breastfeed them at the same time!!
- Bathrobe ( practical for walking in the corridor).
- Sugar-free juices and non-perishable snacks.
- Personal care products (travel size is more practical).
- Shower sandal
- Fogger
- Very comfortable shoes and a little wide (sometimes swelling in the feet and legs appears after childbirth).
- Earplugs.
- Cell phone charger.
For twins:
- Newborn pajamas or sleeper (plan for twins to stay in the hospital longer and not necessarily be discharged on the same day).
- Car seat with the base already securely installed in your vehicle.
- Newborn diaper and fragrance-free wipe.
- Swaddle blanket and comfy blanket (encourage kangaroo care with twins even if they are in the NICU. (finally something dad can do too!)
- Bibs
- Suck
- Between 5 and 6 pajamas or sleepers for each baby
- Some hats
- 6 pairs of stockings
- 4 short sleeve diaper cover-ups for each baby (for babies who need to stay in the NICU in an incubator).
- Breast pump and sterilized bag (cesareans sometimes slow down milk production) Most hospitals rent manual or electric pumps.
- Baby care products
- House for car seat
